Just for fun

Let the record show that on this day, the 23rd of December, Mitch rolled over for the first time! I didn't capture this developmental milestone on camera, but I wanted to write it down so I wouldn't forget. It was so cute. It all went down when he was chasing the package of wipes. I moved it away from him because he's hurt himself on the sharp edges before. I think he likes the crinkly sound that they make because he wanted to keep playing with them, and rolled over! The fun came to an end when he landed on his tummy, which he hates, and the wailing and gnashing of teeth (gums) commenced.

Mitch is also becoming much more vocal. He often combines consonants and vowels. His favorites right now are words that sound alot like "mama" and "hi". What can I say, I'm a proud mother.

Mitch is not completely perfect, I must admit. He might have to get a helmet in the next month or so. His head just isn't rounding out the way it should be. Dang it. He is also struggling with goopy eyes and cradle cap on his face. We're still crazy about him though.

Mitchell and Todd both had special days on the 17th. Mitch turned 4 months, and Todd turned 27. Mitch got his 4-month shots to celebrate and Todd got a Tucanos lunch and we saw the movie, "The Blindside"- very good! Thanks for babysitting Kenna! Mitch weighs 16.9 lbs and Todd weighs 170-something!

Here are some pictures from the last few weeks.

Mitchell enjoying a nap on his tummy. Don't worry, I was sitting by him the whole time. He's still breathing.
For some reason, Todd thought this was a picture-worthy moment.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Mitchell enjoyed his first Thanksgiving with his Grandma and Grandpa Reeder in Idaho. Todd's Uncle Larry took us for a ride in his plane. I had my first Black Friday shopping experience. I went with my sister-in-law, Kisha. I think I'm a convert! I got some great deals. Mitchell did great on the trip both to and from. He slept the whole time except to eat once. Thanksgiving was yummy, except I forgot the sugar in the Pumpkin Pie. Whoops. Everybody needs a pie story, right? It was very enjoyable to spend Thanksgiving with each other, Warren's family, and Todd's parents. Ohhh....cute!

Enjoying a plane ride in Uncle Larry's homemade plane.

Mitchell with his Great Grandma Leighton. Not Mitch's best picture.
One of my favorite parts of visiting Todd's family is getting to visit one of my best friends, Natalie, who lives in Nampa. She and I were roommates at BYU-Idaho. Love you Natalie!

This is what I do...

Mitchell is already 3 months old! Time is going by crazy fast. We are enjoying every minute. He is a little over 14lbs and 24.5" long. That means he is in the 75% for both height and weight. For a while now, Mitch has been obsessed with sucking on his hands. Most of the time, he cannot keep a pacifier in by himself. Of course the woman who has a degree in speech therapy and is anti-thumb-sucking is blessed with the kid that can't keep a pacifier in on his own. Let's be honest, breaking the pacifier habit is a lot easier than breaking the sucking hands/thumb habit. He just thinks the pacifier is an obstacle to the good stuff. What's a girl to do? C'est la vie I suppose. I'll try to raise a child who doesn't suck his thumb for so long that it interferes with his proper socialization. In the meantime, here are some pictures capturing this oh so precious skill of our child.

And some more pics just for fun...

Todd's solution to prevent Mitch from watching the television.

Mitch was so tuckered out from not taking a nap at church that when I set him down to go change my clothes, he was asleep by the time I came back! Oh, and he sleeps with his eyes partly open sometimes. I think he has repressed memories of the forceps yanking him out of my body. He's on the lookout!
Look at that face! Notice the slobber-sleeves...hmm, wonder what that's from.

Happy Halloween!

This week has been a lot of fun. I attended two showers- a baby shower and a bridal shower. On Friday night we were invited to a Murder Mystery Party. It was so FUN! It was made up of a few couples from our ward. We just sat around a table, dressed in togas (the theme was "Roman Ruins"), and conversed about who-dunnit. I played the wife of the murder victim. I wasn't very upset since I was having a steamy affair with the hunk neighbor who was Captain of the Guard (Todd). In the end, everyone had a reason why they wanted the murder victim dead. However, it was the shipmaker...for insurance purposes. Nothing ever changes...it's always the insurance. From Roman times to Dateline times, it's always the insurance.

On Halloween we attended our Ward Halloween Party. We had such a good time. We actually dressed up this year. It's been years and years since I dressed up for Halloween. Mitchell was a pumpkin and Todd and I were pumpkin carving knives. We cannot take credit for our costumes. A neighbor gave us the idea, we merely executed. We just bought Mitch a pumpkin costume from Savers and couldn't think of costumes for ourselves until our neighbor helped us along.

We entered Mitch into the Carved Pumpkin contest. He won "Most Artistic Pumpkin" and as a family, we won "Most Creative Costume". Todd won the donut eating contest. He did not eat the most donuts, he just ate them in the fastest time without using his hands. It was pretty intense since it came down to a three-way tie.

Enjoy the pics!

A few more pictures just for fun...
Mitchell and Mom at his first documented, but actually second, campfire.

Does his cradle look too hazardous? We only have blankets wrapped on the sides, his pajamas hanging, his sleep sack hanging, and a burp cloth hanging. If he turns his head any more, he'll probably suffocate on his hood.

Todd thinks it's fun to try to get Mitch to sit up on his own.

If you look closely, you can see Mitch's tongue trying to lick whatever it can reach.

Love the sleeping pics.

One month and Two months old

I can't believe that Mitchell is 2 months old today. He is growing like a weed. He is starting to smile alot more. He's cooing a bit. He's discovered his fists and likes to suck on them. He doesn't need to be swaddled as much anymore. He's not sure what to do when I blow on his tummy. He doesn't like it when his dad hits him in the face to swat a wasp away. He flails his arms and kicks his legs like crazy when he's lying down. Sometimes he's so still and peaceful like he's taking in the whole world. All in all, he's beautiful and we're pretty crazy about him. Here's some pictures documenting the last month.

This is Mitchell at 1 month old.
One of many times Mitchell has wriggled his way out of a swaddle. Also, the first day we had him home from the hospital, he was just over half the size of the couch cushion. In this picture, he's almost as long as the couch cushion!

My two favorite guys.

Enjoying tummy time...asleep.

Almost a smile. I never catch pics of him smiling because I'm usually more occupied with getting him to keep smiling!

Mitchell's second BYU football game. He's done great each time! Slept right through all the noise for the most part.

Am I a bad mother for cracking up when I see him scream like this? I love it, I can't help it. I am excited to show him this picture someday. It should be noted that I do not just let him cry like this just because it's cute.
