peek-a-boo!

Did you miss me? I'm bbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkkkkkkkkkk!

next on the list...

Refinishing our fireplace mantle has got me thinking about the million other scraps of wood in our apartment that could definitely use some sandpaper. In the order of most important, I present to you..............

In the category of "Never going to happen"-- the piano; the desk/bookshelf; the cabinets; the kitchen table.

okay okay, you caught me. The only thing on the list is the beam. Everything else is just a picture of the sad state of affairs in our home. I even took a picture of the front door, but it looked funny on this blog, so I deleted it. Anyway.

An experiment

This flour came from...
these grains, which came from...
this woman using this mill...
once again...this mill...(for effect)...
came from this box. This box is like a hundred years old. Price sticker a hundred years ago: $59.95. Today, same product, $79.95.
Experiment in grinding own wheat: SUCCESS.

no time to blog!

You may have noticed that it's been a while since I've hung out in the blogging world. Well, there is a reason. I'll show you our January in the following pictures:Stage 1: Taking a picture of the nasty brown color, pre-sanding.
Stage 2: Sanding almost complete!

Stage 3: Sanding off the first stain color that Haley did not like at all. Gross. Note to self: you do not like the color, "gunstock".

Stage 4: New and improved stain color, "Ipswich Pine"- almost complete. Just a touch up here and there!

Christmas part dos

Here are some random pictures of us while in Utah just after Christmas. Unfortunately, I did not take nearly as many pictures as I should have. Being in Utah was so relaxing and laid back that I couldn't possibly remove myself from the couch to pick up the camera to take pictures of me on the couch- relaxing. Some highlights from Utah were seeing several friends, being with family, cleaning out my mother's THREE cabinet's full of recipe books, and scoring a ton of clothes from my mom's closet.

First bandaid ever. Age: 16 months.

Rock concert we attended. Sold out show.

Mitchell's future ambition.

Each time Mitchell saw his cousin Whitney, he would give her a big kiss. At this age, that's just cute.
